PROGRAM FOR WINTER/SPRING - 2012

Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 10 AM.
January's program speaker will be Margie
Bott, talking about, and showing slides, of her trip to Peru,
South America where she goes yearly, as a volunteer, to help
in a school. Margie is a member of the OLL. Then, after Margie
we will have a short story read to us, by the author, Chuck
Rae. Chuck is a member of the OLL and is also a published
story writer.
Tuesday, February 14, 2012, 10 AM.
In FEBRUARY we hope to have Dr. Shanahan
back. Dr. Shanahan has a PhD from Carleton University, his
academic field was the Irish in Canada in the 19th century.
He is working as a professional historian in the field of
First Nations History. He is a wonderful story teller.

March 13, 2012, 10 AM.
March 13, 10 am: A representative from The
Mission in Ottawa will tell us all about the functioning of
the Mission and about the new Hospice they now have in operation.
She will have slides to accompany her talk.
Tuesday,
April 10, 2012, 10 AM.
April 10, 10 am: Dave Coll, Professor of
Engineering, our membership and walking club chair will hold
a show and tell of the new internet gadgets on the market.
This will help us all understand what our kids and grandchildren
are using. You do not have to own a computer to enjoy Dave's
presentation. His talk and 'show and tell' will be to enlighten
all our members as we try to keep up with the generations
coming up.

May 8, 10 am: Professor Ken Torrance of Carleton
University is coming to talk about Leda Clay, a substance
many of us have on our properties. His title is "Landslides
and Earth Quakes - the problem with Leda Clay".
